In flat-sheet membrane bioreactors, Enka Pack has the potential to provide a cost-effective alternative to 3D knitted woven spacer material. As well as costing less, it also offers faster water flow and higher compression resistance. We’re currently working on designs to develop this potential.
Working as a biofilm carrier in submerged aeration tanks – whether as fixed ‘film’ or suspended media – EnkaPack provides a higher surface area than competing products, allowing greater contact with oxygen. This ensures the faster decomposition of organic matter in the waste water.
We can supply EnkaPack in rolls or blocks, to suit your specific biofiltration needs. We are also developing small cubes that would drift up and down in the basin, helping to encourage the organic matter to decompose quickly without clogging the system (for example, in moving-bed bioreactor systems).
With its high surface area to volume ratio, EnkaPack’s structure keeps its weight low – which makes it very easy to handle and install in biological waste water treatment systems. Yet there’s no compromise in efficiency, as the same structure also increases surface area and prevents blockages.
